OVERVIEW

Nar Phu Valley Trek is a wonderful journey to a Wild and unexplored area lies north of Annapurna. This trek is perfect for travelers who want to explore the Annapurna Circuit as well as explore a pristine valley. A challenging and wild ride will take you to the exotic Nar Phu Valley, located in a remote corner of the Annapurna region. Only opened to tourists in 2003, Nar Phu valley still retains its modern look. Residents numbering about 350 have preserved their centuries-old practices. Most of them are involved in yak farming and agriculture.
The trek covers the main part of the famous Annapurna Circuit Trek which also offers great views of the Annapurna massif, Lamjung Himal, Machhapuchhre Himal, ManasluHimal, Dhaulagiri and Tilicho peak. Since the trekking route is less frequented by hikers, you can expect a “just the mountains, nature and us” experience. The Nar Phu valley trek is truly a true adventure that you can experience during your Nepal trekking trip.

ITINERARY

  • Day 01 : Arrival Kathmandu, transfer hotel

    One of MMT’s employees will greet you at the airport terminal on the first day, and you will then be brought to the MMT office in Kaldhara for all the further trip-related information. Finally, the designated person transports you to the appropriate hotel in safety and comfort. You may take in the city’s nightlife in Thamel, Kathmandu’s primary tourist destination, in the evening.

  • Day 02 : Full day KTM city tour, hotel

    This day is expected to include visiting UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including:
    Swayambhunath, Patan Durbar Square, Buddhanath, Pashupatinath and other historical and sacred places. Swoyambhunath:
    After a delicious breakfast, our city tour guide will take you to Swayambhunath, located on a hilltop to the west of Thamel. Swayambhunath is one of the oldest temples in Nepal, known to foreigners as the “Monkey Temple”. Breathtaking scenery, cheerful monkeys and a tranquil environment make Swoyambhu worth a visit. Patan Durbar Square:
    The tour will then speed towards Patan, the city of festivals, celebrations, art and culture. This city is an important place to visit because of the ancient Patan Durbar Square, Krishna Mandir, Ganesh Mandir and many other temples and sites. We examine the city’s art, history, cultural significance, and handcrafted architecture. Boudhanath:
    Boudhanath is the next destination of the city tour located northeast of Kathmandu. The stupa here is one of the largest spherical stupas in Nepal and is mainly visited by Buddhist and Hindu pilgrims all year round. Aesthetic monks, prayer chants, rolling Mani wheels and blooming incense sticks create a vibrant atmosphere for this area. Pashupatinath:
    One of the most interesting places to visit in Kathmandu is Pashupatinath Temple, the oldest temple in Nepal. This temple worshiping Shiva is one of the sacred temples of Hindus living in every corner. Non-Hindus are not allowed to enter the temple grounds; however, one can photograph the traditional cremation ceremony and the temple from the opposite bank of the sacred Bagmati river. After visiting the main UNESCO heritage sites, your guide will take you back to your hotel. Take a shower and prepare your equipment or luggage for the next day’s trip.

  • Day 03 : Drive Kathmandu to Syange/ Jagat

    After an exquisite early breakfast, we drove in a private jeep/van on the Prithivi highway to Thankot, Dhading, Gorkha and Lamjung (Besisahar) before reaching Sange/Jagat. The first 5-6 hours of driving are relaxing and comfortable thanks to the paved road to Besisahar; We then took a bumpy, dusty and rustic ride to reach our destination Jagat. Today’s trip was thrilling and thrilling; We also witness the rural lifestyle, the lush green hills in the background, the rushing rivers, the dazzling snow-capped mountains, the terraced farms and the pristine scenery that soothes the soul and our mind. After 8-10 hours of scenic driving, we arrived at Syange/Jagat, where we sheltered today.

  • Day 04 : Trek to Dharapani

    We begin our hike from Syange, passing through thick forest and the raging Marsyangdi River before reaching a suspension bridge over a river canyon. Numerous waterfalls, beautiful greenery, and steep hills covered with rice fields can be seen along the walk. We arrive at Chamje after an hour-long ascent up steep staircases through thick woodland and across wooden bridges. The trail takes us to Tal village after we pass numerous suspension bridges over the Marsyangdi River once more and make our way through a thick forest and rugged, steep terrain. The route from Tal then climbs to the renowned settlement of Dharapani, which offers a spectacular view of a waterfall, ridges, cliffs, and a lush environment. Stay the night in Dharapani.

  • Day 05 : Trek to Koto

    After breakfast, we climb uphill toward the towns of Bagarchap and Danakyu over gorges, tributaries, and steep stone staircases. The voyage allows us the chance to take in the mesmerizing turquoise surroundings, the Tibetan Buddhist way of life, culture, and heritage, and the expansive views of the Lamjung Himal, Mount Annapurna, Mount Manaslu, and a select few other peaks that are covered in snow. From Dharapani, it takes us 5–6 hours to go to Koto, where we will stay and eat today.

  • Day 06 : Trek to Dharmasala

    We ate an exquisite breakfast early in the morning and got ready for today’s trip. From Koto, the trail descends for a few minutes, then we cross the suspension bridge over the river at the Marsyandi and Naar Khola confluence. After crossing the bridge, we turned right and climbed through dense forest to reach the ACAP campsite along the Naar Khola. From the campsite, the trail follows a suspension bridge over the ridge, Soti Bridge over Seti Khola and another bridge before passing Hulaki Odar (Postman’s Cave). Hiking from Campside to Hulaki Odar, we encountered many natural bridges and caves along the trails. Fast-flowing rivers, narrow cliffs, serene landscapes and lush green scenery attract trekkers to enjoy the trip. From Hulaki Odar, the trip will cross two suspension bridges above Narphu Khola and enjoy the large waterfall below Dharmasala village. After 4-5 hours of walking from Koto, we took refuge for the day in Dharmasala.

  • Day 07 : Trek to Kyang

    Today’s route is one of the shortest yet most challenging on the Narphu Valley Trek. Early in the morning, we had a hot breakfast and started our trek from Dharmasala via the landslide-prone trail along Phu Khola. After walking for several hours, we crossed a small stream and climbed steeply through barley fields to reach a large winter village:
    Meta. The trail from Meta climbs again until it reaches the Nar-Phu junction, from where the trail heads towards Nar or towards the villages of Phu. From the junction we climbed steeply to Jhunum, then descended, crossed the suspension bridge over the stream and continued climbing along the moraine glacier trail until we reached Chyakhu. Further from Chyakhu village, the road climbs for a few minutes and descends to Murju Khola, which separates the villages of Nar and Phu. Finally, cross a wooden bridge, ascend again through moraine and small passes and then descend to Khyang:

  • Day 08 : Trek to Phu village

    The track leaves Kyang and drops steeply through the Phu Khola’s granite rocks before climbing up the gorge to Khaki Hillside, where we descend to an S-shaped valley. Once more, we climb the canyon, enter the Phu area through the Phupi Gyaigoe gate. The walk then follows the cliff’s edge, passes a fort that has been abandoned, and dips to a suspension bridge before ascending to the Phu village cliff. We arrive at the amazing village of this region where we take today’s refuge after a short trek from Khyang.

  • Day 09 : Phu village excursion day

    Today, you have the option of taking it easy on your aching muscles or joining the quick hike across the Phu Valley that we are planning. Either Nagoru Kharka (Pasture) or Himlung Base Camp (4,920m) are reached by way of the short climb. After a delectable breakfast, we visit the hilltop gompa Tashi Lhakhang and admire its architecture. We also look at the god Dorje Dorlo’s mask and ceremonial trumpets. We can see the breathtaking panorama of the Phu valley from the helipad located around the Gompa. The village’s attractions include its traditional culture, historic forts, and gompas. Additionally, Phu offers the expansive scenery and alluring lighting needed for excellent photography. Stay the night in Phu.

  • Day 10 : Trek to Nar Phedi

    The trail descends from Phu, following the previously traveled route to Khyang, Chyarkhu, and Jhunum till we reach the junction. The route then descends to Nar Phedi while traversing Dho Khola Canyon on two little bridges. We arrive at Nar Phedi after a 6-7 hour journey from Phu and take refuge in whichever hotel or monastery is open to us.

  • Day 11 : Trek to Nar village

    Today, we climb steeply to the first entrance gate of the Nar Valley, then retrace our steps along the winding ridge while taking in the expansive views of several peaks and passing vibrantly colored eight-sided chortens. After a short hike from Nar Phedi, we pass the second entrance gate to Nar Valley and follow the trail above a stone wall till we arrive at the most picturesque and respectable settlements of Narphu valley. Stay the night at the village of Nar.

  • Day 12 : Nar village excursion day

    The trek’s second day of acclimatization is today. We spend the day learning about the Phu village’s culture, tradition, way of life, and stunning gompas. The day will also serve as a day of recuperation and preparation for the strenuous and lengthy Kang La Pass (5,322m) trail tomorrow. We return to the resort after a brief hike and give our muscles and limbs a rest.

  • Day 13 : Trek to Kang La - Ngawal

    Today we started walking early in the morning because we had to cross Kang La before noon; otherwise it will become difficult due to strong winds during the day. From Nar, the trail passes through Kani village with beautiful views of Pisang Peak. After an hour’s walk, we crossed yak pastures and then climbed the hill where Nar village was last seen. The road from the hill now descends to Kang La Phedi (4,620 m) after which we cross a small stream on a metal bridge. You’ll then walk a steep climb then a curve in the ridge and finally follow a zigzag path to reach the summit of Kang La, marked by a large cairn. From the pass we can admire breathtaking views of Annapurna II, Tilicho lake, Gangapurna and several other peaks. The trail to Ngawal then follows a grassy path downhill and then crosses a moraine glacier for several minutes. After the end of the moraine road, the hilltop before descending to Ngawal offers stunning views of Chulu Peak’s two large waterfalls. Finally, we went down to Ngawal to rest and eat today.

  • Day 14 : Trek to Manang

    After breakfast, we go by the Lophelling and Shey monasteries that are located above Ngawal. From there, we turn right and proceed to Braga Village, where we eat lunch before continuing on a cliffside path to the most developed village—Manang—by the Marsyandi River. The community where we spend the two nights and acclimatization day is one of the biggest in this area. Stay the night in Manang.

  • Day 15 : Manang: Rest Day

    According to medical experts, acclimatization at a higher altitude is necessary for extended days of trekking. Today, we plan a quick trip to Bhojo Gompa, Gangapuram Lake, or Braga Monastery to learn more about the village’s history, traditions, and opulent surroundings. Additionally, we go to the Himalayan Rescue Association and discover more about acute mountain sickness. We can benefit from a day of recuperation as we still have two days to climb to the highest pass, Thorang La Pass.

  • Day 16 : Trek to Yak Kharka

    We had a fantastic breakfast first thing in the morning before getting ready to travel. We move from Manang up to the Tenki Village after crossing a stream. Before arriving at the tiny settlement of Ghusang, we turn to the north and continue through a deep woodland and pastureland. We follow the deviated path and pass the ridge’s suspension bridge before making the ascent to Yak Kharkha, where we’ll spend the night.

  • Day 17 : Trek to Thorong Phedi

    Today’s trail is brief, steep, and enjoyable. From Yak Kharkha, we ascend steeply to a trail that runs beside Kone Khola and poses a landslide risk. After crossing a suspension bridge, we arrive at Ledar hamlet. After traversing multiple streams and a narrow path while ascending along the Marsyangdi River, the trail eventually falls to Thorang La Phedi while following a landslide-prone route. Stay the night at Thorang La Phedi.

  • Day 18 : Trek to Muktinath

    On the Annapurna Circuit, Thorang La Pass is the tallest, toughest, and most adventurous Pass. We climb steeply up from Thrang La Phedi to the top of Thorang High Camp. We arrive at the top of the Thorang La Pass, which provides a vantage point to see the magnificent Annapurna Range, Kali Gandaki Gorge, beautiful scenery, and distant mountains covered in snow, after several hours of walking, bridge crossings, and false summits. After relaxing for a while at the Pass, we make our way down to the revered Hindu-Buddhist Muktinath shrine. Stay the night at Muktinath.

  • Day 19 : Trek to Tatopani

    We depart Muktinath after a sumptuous breakfast in a rented jeep. The journey from Muktinath to Mustang provides us a very unique and daring adventure. After an hour and a half of driving down a busy, dusty road from Muktinath, we arrive in Jomsom through the Kagbeni trading route. Jomsom’s wind has the power to lift you into the air. We pass through Marpha, the renowned apple orchid village, on our journey to Tatopani. The drive is breathtaking and energizing because of the blossoming flowers or apple-producing trees in the village. After that, the road takes us to Tatopani, a renowned village with natural hot springs, where we will stay today.

  • Day 20 : Trek to Ghorepani

    The next morning, we start our trip from Tatopani to Ghorepani after a great day spent in the natural hot spring. Before reaching Ghorepani, we descend for a bit and walk across one of the longest suspension bridges over the Kali Gandaki River while passing through lush woodland and the communities of Ghara, Shikha, Phalate, and Chitre. We spend the night at Ghorepani.

  • Day 21 : Poon hill hike, and trek to Tadapani

    We hike to one of the region’s most opulent hilltops in the early morning for a breathtaking vista. Poon Hill is a magnificent location from which to take in the breathtaking views of the Annapurna South, Dhaulagiri, Gangapurna, and Annapurna I, among other peaks. We descend to Tadapani by way of the narrow stairway after taking in the stunning view of the snow-covered mountains and the beautiful surroundings. Tadapni also provides views of Macchapuchre Himal and Annapurna South. Stay the night at Tadapani.

  • Day 22 : trek to Ghandruk

    We begin our journey from Tadapani to Ghandruk after a leisurely breakfast, passing through authentic Gurung villages and thick jungle. The charming and culturally significant Gurung settlement in the area is Ghandruk. If we arrive on time, we tour the village, go to the museum, and take in the customs and culture of the Gurung population in Ghandruk.

  • Day 23 : Trek to Pothana

    We start our adventure to Pothana by walking along a cliff and through a deep woodland at Ghandruk while enjoying our early-morning breakfast while taking in the magnificent surroundings. Following the curved path that descends from Landruk, we descend to Tolka, Deurali, and then, at last, Pothana, which is perched on a ridge and provides a breathtaking view of various mountains covered in snow. We are staying at Pothana today.

  • Day 24 : Short trek to Phedi & drive to Pokhara

    While descending from Pothana to Dhampus to Phedi through dense forest, the trek affords us the most pristine vistas of the Himalayan Range and verdant, lush greenery. We take a break at Phedi and then travel to Pokhara, one of Nepal’s most popular tourist destinations, to celebrate our success and take use of the city’s contemporary amenities.

  • Day 25 : Fly Pokhara - Kathmandu

    Before we depart from Pokhara, have the delectable breakfast there. We go by tourist bus for 5–6 hours from Pokhara to Katmandu and arrive there in the afternoon. You may relax in the hotel or take a stroll in the Thamel neighborhood to take in the city life.

  • Day 26 : Final departure

    We depart for Tribhuwan International Airport in order to catch our flight after completing our final checks at the hotel.
