OVERVIEW

This is a 10-day trek that makes a circuit of the Helambu region. The easiest starting point for this trek is Sundarijal due its proximity to Kathmandu. Helambu is the good trekking destination throughout the normal October to May trekking season. This trek remains at reasonably low elevations, there is little chance of altitude problem but you should be prepared for cold and possible snow at Tharepati during the winter. There are fewer trekkers here than in the Everest, Annnapurna or Langtang regions and good lodges are abundant and uncrowded.

ITINERARY

  • Day 01 : Arrival Ktm, transfer to hotel BB

Once you are in the Kathmandu sky, you will be met by a panoramic vista of the snow-capped mountain ranges stretching below. At the airport, a representative from our office will greet you and drive you to your hotel. The representative will assist you in checking into the hotel of your choice. You will receive a briefing regarding your daily activities at the hotel.

  • Day 02 : Free day in Kathmandu, hotel BB

Since Nepal began welcoming tourists, Kathmandu, the historical and cultural center of the country, has become a well-liked travel destination. A beautiful fusion of Tibetan Buddhism, Hinduism, and Western influence can be seen in the city. A guided tour will be provided to the largest Buddhist stupa in Nepal, Boudhnath, as well as the most well-known Hindu shrine, Pashupatinath, which is devoted to Lord Shiva. Both sites are included as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. You go on a tour to Patan, also known as Lalitpur (the City of Artists), which is located 5 kilometers from Kathmandu. As you stroll through Patan Durbar Square, you can admire the magnificent architecture from the Malla era. The main draws in the plaza are the Mahaboudha Temple, Kumbeshwor Temple, Krishna Temple and Golden Temple.

  • Day 03 : Drive Kathmandu to Sundarijal and trek to Chisopani

After a healthy breakfast, it’s a half-hour drive from town to Sundarijal to reach the starting point of this Langtang Trek. You follow Kathmandu’s water main up a slope and out onto typical terraced farmland and the city views are so lovely, the planes landing at the airport look like toys! Continuing on a ridge, you will enter forests of Shivapuri, bamboo, oak leaves, ferns and epiphytic orchids. A glimpse of the trees shows you have crossed the river basin and begun descending the ridge on the opposite side and as the trees thin out, more views open up of JugalHimal, Langtang and Ganesh Himal peaks. You’ll soon reach Chisopani (2300m), a collection of teahouses atop the ridge for the night.

  • Day 04 : Trek to Gul Bhanjyang

You begin walking toward Gul Bhanjyang, where you will spend the night today, after seeing the sunrise over the eastern Himalaya in the morning. Today, you walk for around six hours through a forest and a few small towns. You pass by the villages of Patti Bhanjyang and Chipling, where the majority of the population is Tamang, but all other ethnic groups—Chhetris, Brahmins, and Newars—live in peace there as well.

  • Day 05 : Trek to Magen Goth

You need to trek for a few hours after breakfast to get to Kutumsang (2470m), the first village along the route. The trail gradually changes as you ascend through terraced fields, meadows, and forests, moving from populous, terraced, and warm “middle hills” to higher, delightfully cooler “temperate” and “sub-alpine” regions. By the time you reach the summit, you are surrounded by conifers and rhododendrons. From Gul Bhanjyang, it takes us 5 hours to trek to Magen Goth, where we spend the night.

  • Day 06 : Trek to Phedi

A great morning walk takes you back to the main ridge, with dramatic views over intermediate terrain of green ridges, to the Rolwaling and West Khumbu peaks. Hilly roads and short climbs take us along the ridge to Tharepati (3490m). In spring, azaleas will bloom, in autumn, red and yellow Berberris and birch. Your trail now turns away from the ridge and crosses the very steep terrain at the head of the TadiKhola valley, towards distant Laurebina La. The trail goes through a series of short but steep climbs and descents, passing through the small village of Ghopte, to reach the equally small village of Phedi (3500m) for the night. The surrounding area is made up of deep ravines and majestic waterfalls, towering mountain ranges and dotted with arching pines and bamboo, silhouetted against the blue sky – or ethereal in the mist!.

  • Day 07 : Explore Gosaikunda Lake via Laurebina La pass and Trek to Laurebina Yak

This morning you make a long and steady climb to Laurebina La (4610m), the highest point of this Helambu and Gosaikunda hike, through meadows and small rocks to reach the pass, just above a small lake. The view is only really clear when you go a little further, round a corner and then look towards Gosaikunda (4380m) – you can get the best view by climbing one of the small hills, on the side right or LEFT. , for a panoramic view of Manaslu and Ganesh Himal as well as the very close and snow-covered peaks of Langtang. You will soon reach the sacred lake Gosaikunda, where the black rock in the middle is said to be the head of the god Shiva. It is said that the water from the nearby glacier was created by him to quench his thirst after drinking poison. During the full moon in August, it is full of pilgrims and Hindu shamans. You now follow a well-constructed trail that follows the north side of the valley, now upstream of TrishuliKhola, to a ridge overlooking the main Langtang valley, with Syrabrubensi at nearly elevation 3,000m. You go down the mountainside to a couple of lodges at Laurebina Yak (3950 m.), where you can quietly admire the sunset behind Manaslu and Ganesh, then climb back up, making the mountains glow pink, beyond the misty depths of the valley by BhoteKoshi. The mountains of Tibet are clearly visible, just to the right of the Ganesh Himal range.

  • Day 08 : Trek to Dhunche

You descend the hill today to arrive at Dhunche, the administrative center for the Rasuwa District. The white mass of LangtangLirung on our right and Ganesh Himal in front make for a lovely stroll through the pine, berry, and rhododendron trees. From here, you descend through forests, clearings, fields, and finally meadows before hitting the dirt road for the final few minutes and arriving in the lively town of Dhunche (1950m), bringing an end to our daring Langtang Trek. Spend the night in the neighborhood lodge.

  • Day 09 : Drive back to Kathmandu

You take a long hike over the mountains and into the Kathmandu Valley from Trishuli Bazaar, which is accessible by car. The Annapurnas, Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, and the now-familiar LangtangLirung are all visible in the area around Ranipauwa.

  • Day 10 : Depart Kathmandu

From now till departure, you are free. As per your flight time, assistance will be provided to get you to Tribhuwan International Airport. Have a secure trip back home.
