OVERVIEW

Height (m.) : 6441

Himal : Annapurna Himal

Region : Gandaki

Hiunchuli, at a height of 6,441 meters, forms a massive south-facing wall together with Annapurna South. Its eastern face overlooks the Modi Khola and guards the entrance to the Annapurna Sanctuary. An American Peace Corps Expedition, via the southeast face, first climbed Hiunchuli in October 1971. The mountain is not technically difficult to climb but is vulnerable to rock falls, and route finding may also be a problem. Even though it offers major new route potentials, it has received little attention from mountaineers and is rarely climbed.

At the airport, a representative from our office will greet you and drive you to your hotel. The representative will assist you in checking into the hotel of your choice. You will receive a briefing on your daily activities at the hotel.

  • Day 2 Sightseeing in Kathmandu Valley

Since Nepal began welcoming tourists, Kathmandu, the historical and cultural center of the country, has become a well-liked travel destination. The city offers a beautiful fusion of Tibetan Buddhism, Hinduism, and Western influence in the Valley. Its two principal nearby cities, Patan and Bhaktapur, are extremely important in terms of history, culture, and religion. A half-day guided trip will visit the well-known and largest Hindu shrine of Pashupatinath, the largest Buddhist pagoda in Nepal, Boudhanath, the Palace of 55 Windows from the 15th century, and Swoyambhunath.

  • Day 3 Flight to Pokhara, Drive to Nayapul and Trek to Tirkhedhunga

Your journey begins with a 45-minute flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara. During the flight, you will admire the most magnificent and sensational views of the Himalayas. Once your flight lands in Pokhara, you will be mesmerized by the irresistible beauty of Manaslu and other mesmerizing peaks of the Nepalese Himalayas. Arriving at Pokhara, you will drive one and a half hours to Nayapul, the starting point of your trip. From Nayapul, you will start your trip to Tirkhedhunga via Birethanti. The first part of the hike will be easy as you pass through many small villages and settlements. Then you gently climb up towards Tirkhedhunga. The majority of the people here are Gurungs, who have served in the Gorkha and Indian regiments for generations. Today you will walk for about five hours.

  • Day 4 Trek to Ghorepani

You go away from Tirkhedhunga and toward Ghorepani. Beginning the hike today, you climb steadily for the first two hours before descending gradually as you travel past the Magar settlements of Ulleri and Banthanti. You get fantastic views of Machhapuchhre or Fish Tail [6997m], Hiunchuli, and Annapurna [7219m] South while traveling. As you make your way to Ghorepani amid forests of rhododendron and shady trees, the later portion of today’s walk is rather simple. You get to interact with animals along the journey; you might spot monkeys and numerous bird species. You trekked today for roughly six hours.

  • Day 5 Trek to Tadapani

After breakfast, you start your trip from Ghorepani to Tadapani. You continue the trail through deep forests of rhododendron, bamboo and oak. After nearly an hour and a half of walking, you will reach Gurung Hill, which offers beautiful views of the mountains. From here you pass through small bamboo and rhododendron forests until you reach Deorali. The trail then descends steeply through deep forests to reach Banthanti. From there you walk about an hour to reach Tadapani. Along the way, you’ll often see waterfalls, rocks, wildlife, local birds, and lush greenery. Tadapani is a small village surrounded by beautiful forests, giving you stunning views of South Annapurna, Hiunchuli, Fishtail, Annapurna II and more. Today you walk for about 6 hours.

  • Day 6 Trek to Ghandruk

You trek to Ghandruk today from Tadapani. Today’s trail is relatively simple as you softly descend through thick rhododendron and oak woodlands. The fact that you may hear several species of birds chirping draws a lot of attention from bird lovers to this section of the hiking trail. You arrive in the Gurung village of Ghandruk after a three-hour trek. A Gurung museum and a handicraft center are located in Ghandruk. The Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Gangapurna, Annapurna III, and Fishtail can all be seen well from the settlement.

  • Day 7 Trek to Chhomrong

You continue on the trek after leaving Ghandruk to reach Chhomrong. After an hour of gradual ascent to Ghandrukkot, the first part of today’s walk involves a severe descent to the Kimron Khola. You again climb sharply from Kimron Khola and then walk level for nearly an hour. When you eventually get at Chhomrong, you slowly ascent once more. Chhomrong, which is primarily inhabited by Gurungs, is the entrance to the Annapurna Sanctuary. You walk for roughly four hours today.

  • Day 8 Trek to Bamboo

Leaving Chhomrong, the trail descends by a stone staircase and crosses Chhomrong Khola on a shaky suspension bridge, then climbs back into the side valley. Above the Modi Khola on its western bank, the trail passes through the small village of Tilicho amid forests of bamboo, rhododendrons and oak trees. Climbing further up the rocky path (watch out for nettles), you’ll reach three hotels in Sinuwa, at an altitude of 2350 m. Climb the rhododendron forest to Kuldi, at an altitude of 2520m. This was once a British sheep farming project; now the stone houses are welcome centers and ACAP checkpoints. In winter, from this point on you will often see snow along the way. Then take a short walk on a muddy road to Bamboo Lodge [2340m]. Today you walk for about five hours.

  • Day 9 Trek to Deorali

Today you walk from Bamboo to Deorali, which takes about five hours. First you climb gently through a bamboo forest with many types of rhododendron and oak. The first town we went to was Dovan [2630m], which has very few guesthouses and campsites. Now you cross a muddy path above the river. Here you find avalanche debris except during winter. After a short hike, you will reach Himalayan Hotel [2900m], a town named after Himalayan Hotel. Beyond, the trail climbs steeply to Hinko Cave [3,160 m], so named because of a giant rock outcropping that provides protection from rain and avalanches. It takes about twenty minutes following the regular ascent route to reach Deorali.

  • Day 10 Trek to Annapurna Base Camp [4170m] via Machhapuchhre Base Camp

Leaving Deorali, you walk about four hours to Annapurna Base Camp [4170 m] via Machhapuchhre Base Camp [3820 m]. From Deorali, the valley widens and becomes less steep and we can see the gate of the sanctuary. The path is less steep now. Continuing into the reserve, the trail crosses two avalanche tracks on a narrow path that hits the cliff. After a short hike, you’ll reach Bagar [3310m], a grassland and several abandoned hotels. The normal path follows the left side of the valley. The trail now climbs gently until it reaches Machhapuchhre base camp [3820 m]. Here you find almost 6 to 7 motels. This is one of the places where you can see some majestic mountains. The path crosses an alpine meadow and after a certain distance your path climbs gently. After a short hike, you start for Annapurna Base Camp [4170 m.]. From here you can see 360-degree views of several mountain peaks. .

  • Day 11 Trek to Annapurna South Base Camp

You trek today for around five hours from Annapurna Base Camp to Annapurna South Base Camp. Today’s hike takes you along a rough glacier trail. You may take in the breathtaking vistas of Annapurna I, Fish Tail, Singu Chuli, Tent Peak, etc. while traveling.

  • Day 12 Trek to Hiunchuli High Camp

You walk from Annapurna South Base Camp to Hiunchuli High Camp today for around five hours. Straight up to the High Camp is the rocky trail. Like the previous day, you can take in the magnificent views of Annapurna I, Fish Tail, Singu Chuli, Tent Peak, and other mountains on the way.

Today, you depart Hiunchuli Camp II and descend to the Annapurna South Base Camp. The course is much simpler to follow while descending than while ascending.

  • Day 17 Trek to Annapurna Base Camp

You continue on the trail to Annapurna Base Camp from Annapurna South Base Camp.

  • Day 18 Trek to Dovan

After leaving the Annapurna Base Camp, it takes about five hours to trek to Dovan. Down is much simpler than up. Since it is much simpler to descend from Annapurna Base Camp, you shouldn’t have any trouble getting to Sinuwa in a single day. To get to Dovan from Sinuwa, you must travel through the Himalayan Hotel.

  • Day 19 Trek to Jhinudanda

You may now trek for around six hours from Dovan to Jhinudanda. The path ascends to Bamboo gradually as it travels through rhododendron, oak, and bamboo plant-filled forests. Following Bamboo, the trail ascends sharply to the Kuldi Ghar before becoming rather flat for a while. You must walk a stone stairway for over an hour as it gradually descends to Chhomrong Khola before arriving to Chhomrong. Today’s final section of the trail descends precipitously to Jhinudanda. After about 20 minutes of downhill walking from the town, you arrive at Hot Springs on the Modi Khola’s bank. The Hot Spring is a great place to unwind.

  • Day 20 Trek to Pothana

Continuing the trail, you start from Jhinudanda to Pothana. The first part of the hike is quite easy and follows flat terrain until you reach Himal Pani, where you can see a beautiful waterfall. Beyond this town, the road climbs gently uphill passing many streams and terraced fields. After a short walk, you will reach Landruk [1640m], a village with a mixed community of Gurung, Magar and Brahmins. The trail now climbs gently up to Tolka [1850 m] and continues climbing and following the flat path will take you to Bherikharka. From here, the trail climbs steeply to Deorali, with panoramic views of the various peaks. Now the path gradually descends to Pothana, passing through various oak forests. Pothana is a small town inhabited by the Gurungs. Also from here you can enjoy splendid views of different mountain peaks. Today you walk for about five hours.

  • Day 21 Trek to Dhampus Phedi and Drive to Pokhara
